Welcome to my Blog.  Like so many other outdoor enthusiasts, artists and photographers, the natural world (especially wildlife and their habitats) was an important inspiration that created an insatiable desire to understand all that I could in my outdoor surroundings, and one that continues to this day.  During my youth I immersed myself in our natural heritage, and that compelled me to depict and share some of my inspirations artistically, eventually morphing into a formal career as a wildlife biologist.

I’ve been engaged in photography for one purpose or another since 1977.  It has been an important tool throughout my life to obtain reference material for my artwork, to document my adventures, and has proven to be a powerful tool to inform the public about wildlife, wild places and their management.  Later in my life I realized that my skill with a camera could be used for artistic in addition to more utilitarian goals, and my creativity with a camera and output quality has improved greatly with the advances in digital imaging over the past 15 years.

Over the years many photographers have asked me for advice on how to improve their skills and output quality.  I’m my own worst critic, have never stopped learning or striving to improve my own work, and thus am honored anyone would ask me for advice.  Nevertheless, I feel it’s time to share some of my experience through social media, if for no other reason than to streamline and expedite the delivery of information for those who need it (careful you might just learn a few things here and there about the natural world as well).  If just one person visits these blog posts and benefits from a tidbit of information or insight I have to offer, then I will consider this foray into social networking a success.

I hope you find something useful on this site, I would very much appreciate your feedback, after all, I have much to learn about social media and blogging.  Also, feel free to send me an e-mail with inquiries using the contact form below.  For a more complete biography, list of gear I use, and complete image portfolio, visit the links and galleries on my photo website at http://www.imagesbybeaulin.com/.  For a portfolio specific to Minnesota, visit my Capture Minnesota website hosted by Twin Cities Public Television at http://www.captureminnesota.com/users/beliddel.  If you are a Minnesota photographer, I highly recommend you participate in the Capture MN project!  And, if you’re a non-photographer from MN who somehow ventured onto this page and read this far, but love looking at great imagery, Capture MN is for you….sign-up, enjoy and vote for your favorite photos from the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Cheers & Happy Shooting,  Beau
